Guess Who

Got any old photos and/or stories about a driver, parent, pit crew member, or anybody you want to get even with?  A baby picture, prom, Halloween, etc.  Send them to me and I will put it on here as a "Guess Who" section. Let everybody try to figure out who it is.

I can scan old pictures, slides, etc.... anything you have, I can make it work.

Birthdays?

I will be scrubbing the birthdays and anniversaries section soon. Those not racing anymore will be removed. Send me your information so I can get you added.

Next Scheduled Racing....July 11.

Racing this weekend was fun and competitive. The clones held their own, winning a couple heats and one feature.

A new driver should be joining the Gold Plates soon.  Dummy me can't remember his name.  Considering my age, that should not be a big surprise.  A couple new drivers appeared on the scene in the Purple (Kaleb #11 and Logan #81N) and another in Gold, Cody #8. The soon-to-be Gold got into the #19 kart and ran some laps for the first time. Started out with lap times in the high 14 sec range, however, he did get down to 13.31.   Given more seat time and his own kart... those times will come down more.

We will be racing at the Northwest Michigan Fair again this year. Love that. Kart racing has  drawn the largest crowds to the grandstand. They want to take advantage of that and have moved us from Thursday night to Monday, August 10. More details to follow.

The Western Michigan Fair held in Ludington has asked Daryl to do the same for them. The date is Thursday, July 30. Stay tuned for more information.

I am slowly learning how to tune up the clone to get the most out of it short of going inside.  I will be putting those lessons learned here for others that may chose to try them.  Pictures showing the various jet locations, and what not to do..... learn from my mistakes.  The carbs are inexpensive and the parts are fragile.  Knowing what to do and how to do it can save you a $$, time, and frustration.

If you open this site with Internet Explorer 8.... you more may be finding a mess. After a little research... I found a way to fix it. On the top of your browser window is the address bar. On the right of that bar is a small icon that looks like a piece of paper torn in half. Click on it and all will be well....not sure why.....

Clones are racing in Purple, Gold, and Stock.

The Purple and Gold have restrictor plates that are available for about $10 each. Here is a source for the plates, ARC Racing. Call 800-521-2560 and ask for the .500 purple plate, part #DJ-1500, or the .550 blue plate, part #DJ-1550. The smaller plate is for Purple Plate and the larger for Gold Plate.

CLONES run on gas. The only modifications allowed are: (1) The removal of the gas tank and the installation of a floor mount tank and pump. (2) The stock exhaust can be replaced to prevent the burning of clothing and arms.  (3) Jets can be modified/replaced as needed.  When changing from the stock air filter, the main jet must be changed to compensate for the increased air flow.

For this year, any clutch is allowed, however, it is recommended that shoe clutches be used. Less maintenance and much less expensive.

NO POINTS THIS YEAR!!!!  This is a rebuilding year.  Nobody know what the kart count will be and nobody knows if the clones will play well with the flatheads.  Lets have fun this year and see how the classes shake out.

CLASSES? There are only be four classes.  Purple, Gold, Stock, and Open.  This could change as the season progresses depending of kart count and types.  Again, we will not be racing for points so we can experiment, mix and match, do whatever works for all.
